Agro-climatic Zones in India
An “Agro-climatic zone” is a land unit in terms of major climates, suitable for a certain range of crops and cultivars. An Agro-climatic zone mainly refers to soil types, rainfall, and temperature and water availability. Planning commission (1989) has identified 15 resource development regions in India, 14 in the main and the remaining 1 in the islands of Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.
